  1. You are also going to Groningen? :D Very good idea. I studied there, it is an amazing town if you are young (even if you are older :). Be sure to check out this great bar just outside the center ring, Cafe de Toeter , a very nice brown cafe, with lots of different types of beer on tap. You can also play darts if you want ;).

  2. yup, i'm going to make a driving tour around The Netherlands including all the way up to Groningen and Friesland. quite adventurous of me as an American to want to experience more of Holland than just Amsterdam, eh? lol :p
thanks for the suggestion!.... i've put Cafe de Toeter on my list-of-things-to-do-and-places-to-see :) but, what does it mean "brown cafe"?

btw, my body may be getting older, but my mind and spirit are still young.
    =D

  3. Great that you'll be seeing more of the Netherlands than just amsterdam. A brown cafe ("bruine kroeg") is a bar with a darker / brown interior (no fancy pancy disco lightning etc).

Will look forward to reading your trip stories on your blog.

    When will you be going?

  4. oh, ok, cool.... bruine kroeg is more my style than disco-type clubs. good to learn this terminlogy, bedankt :)

i'm arriving The Netherlands 8 september for 21 nights. i'm planning to spend 5 nights in A'dam, then to Utrecht for 5 nights, then up to Groningen for another few nights and then.... lol, i'm not sure of my itinerary.
i'm really looking forward to this trip. i've been a loooong time trying to make it happen. hehehe, maybe finally, besides meeting Golden Earring, i'll also have those klompen that i've wanted since i was a teen :p
