well, after 4 years of planning and saving and a postponement because of last year's hurricane season, i am finally on my way across the big pond to do a driving tour of The Netherlands, Belgium and bit of northern France. i'm really excited about this new adventure. i'm filled with anticipation of what i will discover...
Will i garner the courage to attempt to utter a word or two of the impossible Dutch language?
will my Vondelpark hotel in Amsterdam really have view of the park as promised?
will i be able to get a ticket to Wilco @ the Paradiso?
will i giggle like a star-struck schoolgirl when i meet Golden Earring backstage after their gig?
is southern Netherlands really one giant metropolis? and will the mad-driver skills i honed in Dublin City and Guatemala City be called upon?
will i recognize a polder when i see one??
will i see acres and acres of tulips?
will i see windmills turning idyllically in the countryside?
will i find my wooden shoes?
do the Belgian really eat massive amounts of fried potatoes dipped in mayonnaise?
is Belgian beer really better than Dutch beer?
do i still remember enough French to make my way through Belgium and northern France... well, i'm sure the French people will let me know how bad is my skill with their language. hopefully, the Belgian are more forgiving.
